LOS ANGELES, CA – (Marketwire – November 23, 2009) – Capcom ® Mobile, a leading developer and publisher of mobile games, today announced a strategic realignment of the mobile operations of the company. With immediate effect, the European mobile studio Capcom will focus exclusively on game development platform for smartphones, including Apple’s iPhone ™, Blackberry, Palm webOS ™, Windows ® Mobile and Android ™. In addition, Capcom has entered into a European distribution agreement with Gameloft ® to publish next six mobile titles: Resident Evil ®: Uprising, Street Fighter ® Alpha, Super Puzzle Fighter ™ II Turbo, Lost Planet ™ 2 ™ 2 and Dead Rising Where’s Wally 2. The games are expected to release in 2010. “The increased resources both in time and labor are required to remain successful in the mobile market,” said Midori Yuasa, president of Capcom Mobile. “By realigning our study focus and enter into strategic distribution agreements, Capcom Mobile is able to stay profitable and proactive in our ever changing industry.” Capcom Study in the UK is expected to produce 10-12 titles for smart phone platforms in the next 12 months, beginning with the 1942 arcade shooter for the iPhone. the development of additional smartphones, as well as the development of Europe and North America will remain out of standard devices Capcom studio in Toronto, Canada.
